Chemical Registration

Understanding Registration Tiers and Tonnage

In Taiwan, compliance for existing chemical substances is categorized into Phase 1 Registration and Standard Registration, depending on the annual volume and the substance’s regulatory status. Weshin ensures your data meets the stringent requirements of the Ministry of Environment (MOE).

  • Phase 1 Registration: Required for existing chemical substances manufactured or imported in quantities of 100 kg or more per year. A registration number must be obtained prior to any commercial activity.

  • Standard Registration: Applies to substances specifically designated by the authorities (currently a list of 106 substances) with an annual volume of 1 metric ton or more. This requires a significantly higher level of data transparency and scientific evidence.

Essential Data Requirements

Our technical team at Weshin specializes in compiling the following:

  1. Substance Identification: Accurate CAS No., IUPAC nomenclature, molecular formula, and structural data.

  2. Usage Categorization: Defined descriptions of downstream use (Industrial, Professional, or Consumer).

  3. Physicochemical & Toxicological Data: For Standard Registration, this includes critical endpoints such as melting point, vapor pressure, acute toxicity, and environmental fate.

  4. Exposure Assessment: High-tonnage substances require a detailed Safety Assessment Report (SAR) to evaluate potential risks to human health and the environment.
