Why do we test these parameters?

 

Is clear water truly clean? In reality, many hazards are invisible to the naked eye. We have broken down each item in this "Testing Package" into simple terms to explain how we safeguard your water quality:
 

1. Coliform Group

• Purpose: To detect "external contamination" within the water tower.

• Why it matters: This is the baseline for hygiene. A positive result usually indicates that the water tower lid is not sealed properly, allowing bacteria from pests (like rodents or cockroaches) or rainwater to compromise the supply. This is a leading cause of gastrointestinal distress.
   

2. Total Bacterial Count (TBC)

• Purpose: To "grade" the overall cleanliness of your water tower.

• Why it matters: This value directly reflects whether the tower has gone too long without cleaning or if the internal biofilm (that "slimy layer") is too thick. A high count means your water tower has effectively become a breeding ground for bacteria.
   

3. Free Residual Chlorine

• Purpose: To check if the "disinfecting bodyguard" is still active.

• Why it matters: Chlorine is added to tap water for sterilization.

  • Low levels: The disinfection power has failed, potentially allowing bacteria to grow during distribution.

  • High levels: The water may have a pungent bleach smell and can be irritating to the skin.

• Conclusion: We ensure the levels stay within the "optimal range."
   

4. pH Value (Acidity/Alkalinity)

• Purpose: To protect your skin and your home’s plumbing system.

• Why it matters:

  • Too Acidic: Corrodes metal pipes, leading to heavy metal leaching (resulting in "rusty water").

  • Too Alkaline: Causes scale buildup that clogs water heaters or showerheads, and can lead to dry, itchy skin after bathing.
     

5. Heavy Metals

• Purpose: A "toxicity test" specifically for aging pipelines.

• Why it matters: If your property is over 20 years old or uses uncertified faucets, metals from the pipe walls (such as Lead or Mercury) may flake off into the water. Crucially: Heavy metals cannot be removed by boiling water. Long-term ingestion leads to accumulation in the body, posing serious health risks.
   

6. Legionella

• Purpose: To prevent the inhalation of "lethal pneumonia-causing" bacteria during showers.

• Why it matters: This unique bacterium thrives in warm water environments (such as hot water pipes and showerheads). It isn't contracted by drinking; rather, it is inhaled via water mist during a shower, which can lead to severe pneumonia.
